Positively Green Cards

Positively Green Cards

I stopped by a local stationery store yesterday, Paper Moon, to pick up a birthday gift. In the back corner, among the blank invitations, I found the most lovely cards: Positively Green. The graphics and color combinations called me to pick one up. Each card is graced with a quote, proverb, or verse from a song. I read one after another:

“Let no one ever come to you without leaving better.” - Mother Theresa

“You whose day it is get out your rainbow colors and make it beautiful.” - Traditional Nootka Song

“Masquerading as a normal person day after day is exhausting.” - Anonymous

I wanted to take them all home. I picked the four in the photo, to start, and already gave one to a friend for her 30th birthday. They are positively lovely and have a green tip on the back of the card for your healthy pleasure.

Aeration

Lake Park, the city park across the street from our house, is getting new aerators installed in the lake bed. They drained the lake to install them.

Lake Park

A former neighbor told us about spending time as a kid at his grandmother’s house, in our neighborhood. He remembers spending summers playing in the water that fed into the lake. Now, there isn’t enough water coming in to keep the lake from turning bright algae green. You can see how green on the google satellite photo.

This park has more visitors every year and although it drives me crazy to see them feed the water fowl bags full of bread and dog food, yes, I said dog food, I love to see the park being used by families and dog, cat, and iguana owners. There were some picnickers this morning and neighbors out on their porches enjoying the green view of the park. I particularly love the park when it snows. On occasion we get one of those lovely deep and quiet snows at night. I take Maggie (my aussie-heeler) to the park to bounce through the snow. It’s like the snow is new to her every time.

I am excited about the improvements to our neighborhood park. We might even take the canoe out when the water comes back. I’ll update here when the installation is complete.

“Hello, hello. Are you out there?”

Hello world. Welcome to my first post. I don’t know yet what kind of a life this blog will take on. I plan to share my creative and teaching experiences (often one and the same) with some day-to-day adventures thrown in. Other than those plans the only other is to let this space take on a life of its own. Please leave me a comment and let me know any of the Ws of why you stopped by. Thanks for visiting!

To start, I must give props to my friend, Amit, who helped me get this going. I’ve actually been wanting to start a blog for over a year. Less than a month ago Amit and I mentioned to each other our common desire to blog,. We set a date to be online and here we are. Amit, thank you for support to get this going and congratulations on your own blog. I look forward to seeing your online space grow and take shape.

I also owe a huge thanks to my husband, my web guru. And, many thanks to a number of other dear friends who continue to support me in all that I do. You will be sure to meet them all, over time.

Well friends, until then…
