Creative To-Do List

One of my favorite creative spaces to follow is The Workroom in Toronto. I have even considered a weekend getaway to Toronto just to take a class in their shop. If I lived in Toronto they’d get tired of me real fast. Rather than sew at home I’d rent time just to hang out to see what’s being created in their space and to get inspired. I follow what they’re up to by way of Flickr and once in Flickr by links to their blog, Make Something. Recently, I was led to owner Karyn’s to-do list of crafts which made me think… What’s looming on my list?
-Make green practice dress, All-Weekend Sundress, from Heather Ross’s Weekend Sewing (pattern has been traced and cut)
-Make black & white layered version of the All-Weekend Sundress for my brother’s wedding in August
-Make outfits for the boys’ for my brother’s wedding
-Make the Summer Blouse from Weekend Sewing in the the white with red rose percale I’ve been hoarding in my stash
-Finish crocheted fish softie for baby Natalie (only needs fins)
-Applique onesies to have in my gift stash
-Cover metal boards with fabric for the boys’ magnetic nursery boards
-Learn to crochet (I’m just winging it right now)
-Print and send baby announcements
-Get back to making jewelry (been on maternity leave from everything!)
-Take a class on how to work with metal, metal wire, etc. Particularly silver.
-Get shelving up in studio so it can be properly organized (this counts, right? getting clutter cleared for creativity)
-Make David’s tote bag for his watercolors
-Finish my mom’s naughahyde yarn bag (this was supposed to be her Mother’s Day gift two years ago)
Now, to find some little blocks of time in between feeding baby boys.
What’s on your list?

My ‘crafts’ usually involve the computer since that is where I can be most creative.
-I need to make a database for my comic collection. Designing and implementing it is actually the easy part. Going through 10 long boxes of comics and entering them in is the hard part (at least they are alphabetized!).
-A couple of summers ago I read a book and started coding actual computer programs. I wrote a simple game back then and would like to start doing similar things. One thing I’ve always wanted to do is write a program that simulates hockey games.
-My sister and brother in law gave me an electronic keyboard for Christmas two years ago. I finally opened it up recently and then remembered I have no idea how to play. I need to change that.
These are all summer at the earliest things!

Ooh. Great idea, listing the projects! Puts them one step closer to finished, yeah? Ok here goes…
-Get the blog up (step 2 in this might be acquiring a Wacom tablet - a girl can hope!)
-Finish the room where projects will happen - almost done!
-Get the sewing machine back up & running, make cloth napkins out of some great green & brown fabric I found a while back, using the Lotta pattern from Simple Sewing.
-Felt the super heavy sweaters that have lost their usefulness here in the west.
-Plan the garden & yard & get started. Biggest project. Would like to see it happen, at least in part, this year.
-Write more.

Seriously, AD. Doesn’t it feel good to get them in a list. I think I need to make a mending list, too. So it doesn’t feel so daunting.
Amit and I have been chatting offline about setting some goal dates to get some of items done. If anyone else would like to - let’s set some goal dates.
